How It Works

our process

Step 1

After a Loved One's Passing

1.Get the Death Certificate: A doctor will issue the Cause of Death Certificate (CCOD)
2.Download the Death Certificate Hospital staff will show you how to download it through the MyLegacy website. (If the death happens at home, the certifying doctor will guide you.)
3.Wait for Next Steps The hospital or doctor will tell you whether to contact the undertaker or if an autopsy is needed.
Step 2

Activating the Undertaker

1.Contact the Undertaker Once you get the go-ahead, send a copy of the Death Certificate to the funeral director. They will arrange to collect your loved one.
Step 3

Preparing for the Funeral

1.Embalming Decide if embalming is needed.
2.Clothing Prepare a set of clothes for your loved one to wear.
3.Wake Location Choose where you want the wake to be held.
4. Select a Photo Find a good photo of your loved one to display.
