How It Works

Step 1

After a Loved One's Passing

1.Obtain the Death Certificate: A doctor will issue a Certificate of Cause of Death (CCOD), which is required to register the passing.
2. Download the Death Certificate Hospital staff will guide you on how to access the digital copy via the MyLegacy portal. If the death occurs at home, the certifying doctor will advise you.
3. Await Instructions You’ll be informed whether to contact a funeral director immediately or wait for further steps, such as a required autopsy.
Step 2

Activating the Undertaker

1.Contact the Undertaker Once you get the go-ahead, send a copy of the Death Certificate to the funeral director. They will arrange to collect your loved one.
Step 3

Preparing for the Funeral

1.Embalming Decide if embalming is required. Our team can guide you based on the viewing arrangements and traditions.
2.Clothing Prepare a clean set of clothes for your loved one to be dressed in, according to religious or personal wishes.
3.Wake Location Choose where you would like the wake to be held — at home, a funeral parlour, or a community space.
4. Select a Photo Select a framed photo to be displayed during the service.
