The customs and duration of Taoist funerals can vary according to dialect group, family traditions, and individual preferences. However, several core elements are commonly observed:

• Preparation of the body: The deceased is bathed and dressed in suitable attire or traditional longevity clothing, with bright red usually avoided, as it is considered inauspicious.

• Ritual chanting: Ordained Taoist priests conduct chants to separate the spirit from the physical world, accumulate merit, and seek forgiveness from celestial deities.

• Offerings: Symbolic items such as food, fruit, rice, tea, candles, and lanterns are presented to provide nourishment and guidance for the soul.
